Meanwhile, Azerbaijan and Pakistan established diplomatic relations on June 9, 1992, after Pakistan became one of the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan’s independence in 1991. Since then, ties have been based on strong political support, mutual respect, and cooperation, particularly over the Karabakh and Kashmir issues. Today, the relationship has evolved into a strategic partnership, covering defense, trade, investment, energy, transport, tourism, and other areas.
