Iran and Tajikistan have stressed the need to accelerate and implement cooperation in rail, road, air transport, port and logistics sectors. According to Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, a meeting was held in Tehran on August 15 between Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh, Tajik Minister of Transport Azim Ibrahim and Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma. During the meeting, Sadegh noted that international rail freight between the two countries increased in 2025, describing the growth as an indication of closer ties between Iran and Tajikistan.

She added that Tehran’s Aprin dry port has significant potential for cooperation between the two countries. Iran welcomes Tajikistan’s joint investment in Aprin and other Iranian ports, the minister said. Sadegh also stressed the importance of resolving issues related to road transportation between the two countries.

She said Iran welcomes multilateral discussions, including between Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan and China. The Farah highway in Afghanistan is expected to become operational within the next month and could serve as a project for trilateral cooperation, she added. Sadegh also highlighted the importance of increasing the number of flights and exploring reciprocal discounts to promote tourism.
