Pakistan will continue to support regional peace and dialogue, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari's address says, Trend's correspondent reports. The address was read out by Pakistani Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Qasim Mohiuddin, during an event in Baku dedicated to the country's Independence Day. The address further added that the support will continue with a particular focus on economic development, institutional reforms, and expanding opportunities for young people.
In his message, Zardari paid tribute to the country’s founder, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, as well as to all those who sacrificed their homes, safety, and livelihoods in the struggle to establish Pakistan. It is also a responsibility that every generation must carry forward,” the address said. According to Zardari, recent events have demonstrated the strength of the Pakistani people, as well as the country’s determination and ability to defend its sovereignty and national interests.
He emphasized that strength also entails a responsibility to prevent conflicts, preserve peace, and protect the interests of the people. The president noted Pakistan’s role in promoting dialogue in the region, emphasizing that the country uses its channels of communication, geographic location, and diplomatic capabilities to encourage dialogue and de-escalation. Furthermore, Zardari emphasized the need to strengthen Pakistan’s economy, create new opportunities, improve education and vocational skills, and implement reforms in public administration, the economy, and social policy.
