Provincial premiers have joined Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney, firing back after US President imposed tariffs.

Mark Carney says Canada will impose tariffs starting September 8 on imports of US steel, electronics and other products.

The prime minister spoke hours after the US imposed 50 percent tariffs on nearly $20bn worth of Canadian goods.

US President Donald Trump slammed Canada on Sunday, saying the country wanted "the benefits of being a State, without being one", in response to Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announcing retaliat
