President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has cast his ballot in the elections of deputies to the Kurultai. According to the press service of the President, Tokayev voted at polling station No. 520 located in the Palace of Independence. Following the vote, the Head of State held a briefing for representatives of the media.
For the first time, we are holding elections to a unicameral Kurultai. This is an important historic event. By coming together as a united nation, we are carrying out large-scale reforms.
You all know this well and are witnesses to the transformations taking place. We have achieved significant results. At the same time, much work still lies ahead, and the goals we have set are of particular importance.
Today's elections are only the beginning of this major work,” Tokayev said. The elections to the Kurultai, Kazakhstan's unicameral parliament established under the new Constitution, which entered into force on July 1, 2026, began today. The Kurultai will consist of 145 deputies elected for a five-year term.
The elections are being held under a proportional representation system, with deputies elected from party lists in a single nationwide electoral district. According to Kazakhstan's Central Election Commission, 12,605,788 voters are registered. A total of 10,423 polling stations have been prepared, including 79 polling stations in 61 countries abroad.
Seven political parties are participating in the elections: Adilet, the Nationwide Social Democratic Party, the Baitak Green Party of Kazakhstan, the People's Party of Kazakhstan, Auyl, the Ak Zhol Democratic Party of Kazakhstan and Respublica. International experts are monitoring the voting process. A total of 777 international observers from 42 countries have been registered.
