Turkmenistan and the UAE discussed prospects for expanding practical cooperation, including trade and economic ties and cultural and humanitarian contacts. The issue was discussed during a meeting between Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova and UAE Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ahmed Al-Khay Hamad Khamis Al-Hameli, according to Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry. The sides reviewed the current state of bilateral cooperation, prospects for its further development and the organization of joint events.

The meeting also focused on cooperation between the two countries on international and regional platforms. The sides expressed mutual interest in further strengthening friendly relations and giving new impetus to the bilateral partnership. Earlier, in December 2025, UAE Ambassador to Turkmenistan Ahmet Al-Khay Khamad Al-Hammeli expressed his country’s willingness to double the trade turnover between the two countries in the coming years.

The UAE’s economic presence in Turkmenistan extends beyond trade, with Emirati energy companies playing a major role in the country’s oil and gas sector. Dragon Oil has operated in Turkmenistan for 25 years, while ADNOC’s international investment arm XRG is involved in Offshore Block 1. The two sides have also discussed expanding cooperation in the gas sector, while Turkmen companies such as NATCO Trading maintain operations and business links in the UAE.
