To be feli keçmiş zamanda was / were şəklində işlənir. Mənaları am / is / are ilə eynidir, sadəcə keçmiş zamandadır:
am / is (indiki zaman) —> was (keçmiş zaman)
I am tired. (now) -- I was tired last night.
Where is Ann? (now) -- Where was Ann yesterday?
The weather is good today. -- The weather was good last week.
are (indiki zaman) —> were (keçmiş zaman):
You are late. (now) -- You were late yesterday.
They aren't here. (now) -- They weren't here last Sunday.
Sual forması am / is / are -da olduğu kimi düzəlir. inkar forması isə was not (wasn't) / were not (weren't) şəklindədir.
