You say governments aren’t to blame, that Armenians are enemies, that everything is black & white. But the world doesn’t work that way. History isn’t a black-and-white comic where some are ‘good’ and others are ‘evil.’ It’s always a mix of pain, mistakes, and politics that likes to turn people into pawns.
What if tomorrow your government changes its rhetoric? What if they say, ‘Now we’re friends with Armenians, it’s in our interest.’ Would you still believe the same, or would you suddenly change your mind? If your opinion completely depends on someone else’s agenda, it’s no longer your opinion - it’s a program.
The same logic goes for Armenians. What if their government changes its stance and says, ‘Now we’re friends with Azerbaijanis, it’s in our interest.’ Would they still believe the same, or would they also change their mind?
Sometimes it’s useful not to argue, but to just sit back and think: whose interests am I really protecting when I keep repeating all of this? My own? The people’s? Or those who benefit from keeping you and them as enemies?
