49ers Have 'High Level of Confidence' in ex-1st Rounder Returning in Week 5

The San Francisco 49ers reportedly have a lot of confidence that 2025 first round pick Mykel Williams, will return in Week 5.

The San Francisco 49ers have been decimated by injuries once again in 2026. Just this week, starters Mike Evans and Dre Greenlaw were added to the injury report; neither practiced on either Wednesday or Thursday. The same applies to defensive end Keion White, who has been dealing with a hamstring injury.

However, in the midst of the piling on of issues and physical ailments, there is some positive news for San Francisco. The coaching staff have a "high level of confidence" that former first round pick, defensive end Mykel Williams, will be healthy and available to play in Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks, according to a report by CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz. "There’s a high level of confidence at this point that 2025 first-round pick Mykel Williams, who has been out since an ACL injury last November, will be able to return to action and play next week when SF faces Seattle, sources tell CBSSports." Zenitz posted on X on Thursday afternoon.

Williams remains on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list as of the moment, having been out of action since tearing his ACL back in November 2025. But it appears that this could be changing in the near future. This comes just in time for the 49ers – specifically at the defensive end position, along with wide receiver, the injuries have been seemingly never-ending.

Nick Bosa will miss the next few weeks with a knee/calf injury, the aforementioned White has not practiced since injuring his hamstring and third round rookie Romello Height has a hand injury that left him only able to participate in practice in limited fashion over the past two days. Khalid Kareem and veteran Ogbo Okoronkwo will once again likely be the starters this weekend against the Broncos, with Villiami Fehoko Jr. and perhaps practice squad additions Matthew Judon and Sebastian Valdez also getting opportunities at the position.
