Prepare for friend group drama.

Are you hosting a game night with friends and looking for an easy party game to keep everyone entertained? Then look no further than the Paranoia game. Question games are one of the easiest and most affordable ways to pass the time and have fun during medium and large group gatherings—whether you opt for would you rather questions, this or that questions, never have I ever questions, truth or dare questions, or anything in between.

But if you want to spice things up and give your question game a spin, then a game of Paranoia is one of the best ways to do it. You might recognize the game from a pivotal episode of Tell Me Lies, but if you're unfamiliar with how to play, below is a handy guide to playing Paranoia, along with a list of good Paranoia questions to help you speed things up. In order to play Paranoia, all you need is a group of three or more people, a coin or something with two distinct faces to flip, and a list of questions to ask around.

Unlike other games, where each question is posed aloud for everyone in the group to hear, the premise of a Paranoia game relies on secrecy. Players are asked hot seat questions in private that can be answered with a name only. Basically, it needs to follow the pattern of “Who in this group is most likely to…”.

When the name is blurted out loud as an answer, the question may or may not be revealed, creating that sense of “paranoia” for the person whose name was chosen. As mentioned above, you need a minimum of three players for a Paranoia game, but there’s no real limit as to how many people can play. You do need to stand or sit in a circle so you know whose turn is next.

Here are the basic rules: Decide the order in which you are going to start the rounds. One basic way to do it is by picking the youngest or the oldest person in the group, but you can also get creative with other premises, such as the last person to have gone to the bathroom, or the last person to have drunk a Diet Coke. Decide which order you are going to play in.

It can be clockwise or counterclockwise, but make sure to establish it before the game starts. Once you know who will start and who will follow, the first player picks a question and asks it in secret to the second player. The question needs to be whispered into the second person’s ear and not shared aloud.
