Matsumoto, Nagano Pref. – The 35th annual Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival (formerly the Saito Kinen Festival Matsumoto) closed Sept. 2 with an ensemble performance featuring two trumpets, a viola and, for the first time in 18 years, a pipe organ. One of Japan’s top organists, Mari Ohki, was brought in to play the instrument, which was installed at Harmony Hall in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture, in 1987. Trumpeters Gabor Tarkovi and Osamu Takahashi, as well as violist Yoshiko Kawamoto, rounded out the ensemble.
