The Philadelphia Eagles traded veteran interior offensive lineman Cam Jurgens to the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday, getting a 2027 fifth round pick and a 2028 second-round pick in return. This trade comes in the midst of some serious offensive line issues for the Eagles. Landon Dickerson is on the injured reserve with a knee issue, and Lane Johnson announced his retirement on Wednesday.
Tyler Steen and Jordan Mailata are the team's only remaining offense line starters that begin the year in Week 1. Some fans and analysts viewed the Eagles' decision to trade Jurgens as punting on the 2026 season in order to prepare for a future rebuild. However, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter says that's not the case.
"Definitely not white flag in Philadelphia," he said. "In this particular case, they're selling for a reason. They inserted Drew Kendall at center and like him an awful lot.
Cam Jurgens at guard — he doesn't fit well there. They were offered a second-round draft pick for an interior offensive lineman. ... Philadelphia is now armed up for the 2028 NFL Draft." The Eagles are 2-2 to open up the 2026 season after blowing a fourth-quarter lead over the Los Angeles Rams this past Sunday.
The team will look to get back on track in an international Week 5 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London on Sunday.
