Amelia Dimoldenberg is ending her viral YouTube series “Chicken Shop Date” after 12 years. The host, writer and producer announced the news on Thursday in an Instagram post, writing: “I never thought I’d stop ‘Chicken Shop Date,’ I thought maybe it would be a part of me forever, and in some way it always will, but I feel like it’s now time to move on from this adventure and onto a new one.” The show will end with a final run of episodes coming soon. What began in 2014 as a column for a youth magazine has become a cultural phenomenon and has seen Dimoldenberg have awkward banter with some of the biggest stars in the world, including Billie Eilish, Andrew Garfield, Cher, Central Cee, Jack Harlow and more.
Dimoldenberg’s YouTube channel has amassed a following of more than 4.4 million, with the series accumulating a total of 1 billion views in its 10th year. All of them charmed me (some more than others), and I definitely charmed them.” She added, “To me, the show is my very own romcom, and I have loved being able to share it with you. I am so grateful to everyone who has followed me on this journey and found a bit of joy in these episodes.” “Chicken Shop Date” has led to Dimoldenberg starting her own production banner, Dimz Inc., as well as her own youth summer academy in London.
She has several other entertainment projects in the works, including a rom-com set she is writing and starring in and her own BBC series.
