Andrew Tate has claimed he is being subjected to worsening conditions in a Miami jail, alleging he has been moved to a solitary confinement cell without hot water or air conditioning and a "serious" cockroach infestation. The 39-year-old former kickboxer-turned-influencer made the claims in a lengthy post on X Thursday, saying he had spent 61 days in the Special Housing Unit (SHU) at the Federal Detention Center (FDC) in Miami. Tate and his brother Tristan have been held at the facility since their arrest in July as they fight extradition to the UK, where they face dozens of charges including rape and sex trafficking.
Both men deny any wrongdoing. Tate said in his post on Thursday that he had been informed he was being moved to a different cell, which he claims turned out to be another in the same SHU unit in “far worse condition” than the previous one. I have stone-cold water and filth.
Tate also claimed he has no hot water or air conditioning "of any kind." He also accused prison staff of treating him with hostility and punishing him and his brother for having extra books in their cell. "I have done nothing but show respect to every single guard. I have been kind to everyone," he wrote.
Tate confirmed he was pursuing legal action against the detention center, writing: “This is a cruel and unusual punishment. This violates civil rights.” Newsweek reached out to the Federal Bureau of Prisons and Andrew Tate’s attorney, Joseph McBride, for comment. This is a developing story and will be updated.
