FIFA has announced punishments for players and staff following the brawl that broke out after the World Cup final in July.

FIFA has announced the punishments for Argentina's players and staff following the brawl that broke out after the team's 1-0 loss to Spain in the World Cup final in July. Meanwhile, Argentina defender Nahuel Molina received a seven-game ban for hitting Spain midfielder Rodri in the stomach. Paredes and Molina have also been fined $90,000.

Argentina midfielder Thiago Almada picked up a one-game suspension, and Argentina official Roberto Ayala is banned for three games. Almada and Ayala each received $30,000 fines. Gavi was the only representative from Spain to be punished for his involvement in the brawl.

He is banned for one game and was fined $30,000 for unsporting behavior. These bans will be served during international games instead of club games. Additionally, the Argentine Football Association received a $310,000 fine.

Argentina's next home game will be played with a 50 per cent stadium closure. Argentina also received a second one-game partial stadium closure mandate. "The AFA legal department will, in a timely manner, request from FIFA the grounds for the reviewable rulings in order to file appeals with the governing body's appeal committee, while retaining the future option of appealing to the CAS as a final recourse," the federation said in a statement.
