The Houston Astros have made a roster move, as they have signed recently released outfielder Nelson Velazquez.

The Houston Astros are bringing back one of their recently released outfielders. According to The Athletic's Chandler Rome, the Astros have re-signed outfielder Nelson Velazquez to a major league contract. This comes shortly after the Astros designated Velazquez for assignment and then released him after he cleared waivers.

Rome also reported that the Astros have optioned infielder Ray Delgado to Triple-A Sugar Land in a corresponding move. Velazquez has appeared in 37 games this season split between the St. Louis Cardinals and Astros, where he has recorded four home runs, 12 RBI, and a .205 batting average.

Now, he will be looking to heat up after landing this second chance from the Astros. Velazquez will now once again provide the Astros with an outfielder who has a decent amount of MLB experience. This is not a bad thing for the Astros, as they are currently fighting to win the American League West and make the playoffs.

In 231 career MLB games over four seasons split between the Chicago Cubs, Kansas City Royals, Cardinals, and Astros, Velazquez has recorded 35 home runs, 100 RBI, and a .211 batting average. It will be intriguing to see how much of an impact he can make after landing this latest deal with the Astros from here.
