Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX Halftime Show won seven Emmys Saturday at the Creative Emmy Awards, breaking the record for most Emmys won by a halftime performance. Sabrina Carpenter also won her first Emmy Award, taking home the outstanding variety special (pre-recorded) trophy as performer and executive producer on Disney+’s The Muppet Show reboot; Carpenter beat Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour | The Final Show in the category. Bad Bunny won his first Emmy in the outstanding variety special (live) category, where his Super Bowl performance became only the second halftime show — after Kendrick Lamar’s the year before — to win that award.
The halftime show also won in the categories of music direction, choreography, sound mixing, lighting design, technical direction/camerawork and directing. (Saturday Night Live also won for outstanding makeup for a variety, nonfiction or reality program for its Bad Bunny-hosted episode, though the host won’t receive an award for that one.) Jay-Z, a producer of the halftime show, scored his third Emmy for his role on Bad Bunny’s performance; the rapper previously won for Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show, which held the record for most Emmys won by a Super Bowl performance for a year until Bad Bunny’s big night. Other big winners at night one of the Creative Emmy Awards were the reality competition Traitors and the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, which took home five Emmys for episodes from its final season. The Billy Joel documentary And So It Goes received the Emmy for outstanding sound mixing for a nonfiction program.
