Chicago Bears wide receiver Rome Odunze suffered a calf injury last week and has officially been listed as questionable to play in Sunday's Week 1 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. Odunze logged limited practice participation in all three sessions later in the week leading up to Sunday's game, but his status is still up in the air. However, Odunze delivered a confident message regarding his chances to play when speaking to reporters on Friday.
I doubt I’m questionable. I know there's a way everyone goes about things, but I feel pretty good. I was out there today," Odunze said.
"I plan on playing.” Odunze separated himself as one of quarterback Caleb Williams' favorite targets when healthy in his 2025 sophomore season, reeling in 44 catches for 661 yards and six touchdowns through 12 games. He missed the final five games of the 2025 regular season after suffering a stress fracture on his foot. If Odunze is unable to go this weekend, a heavier receiving load will fall on fellow wide receiver Luther Burden III.
The Bears will kick off against the Panthers at 1 p.m.
