The Cincinnati Bengals had plenty of reason to celebrate after a 20-6 win over the Houston Texans in Week 2, but the win came at a cost for three Bengals players. The game was quite costly for two of the team’s biggest stars — wide receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. The NFL released its list of weekly fines on Saturday, and Chase and Higgins’ names appeared multiple times.
In fact, Higgins tied with Detroit Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown with a league-high four fines from Week 2. The full list of Bengals infractions is below.
Chase’s double fine cost him $29,852, while Higgins’ bank account took a massive $59,704 hit. The NFL faced heavy criticism from analysts and fans on social media for the excessive number of “illegal celebrations and vulgar acts” fines they doled out. The league issued 13 fines totaling $182,135 for controversial celebrations in Week 2.
Chase and Higgins weren’t the only ones who faced the NFL’s wrath for their celebratory actions. Brown, Lions WR Jameson Williams, Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs, Lions offensive tackle Penei Sewell, Dallas Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson, and San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk were also singled out by the NFL for their celebratory antics. Ferguson has already made it known he’s appealing his fine, and many expect Juszczyk, who the NFL believes was imitating chugging a beer, will do the same.
Juszczyk addressed his specific situation, stating he was drinking juice, hence his nickname.
