The Buffalo Bills are in a great spot right now, as they have a 5-1 record and are at the top of the AFC East standings. With this, it is clear that the Bills are going to be buyers ahead of the trade deadline. One of their biggest needs is an upgrade at the safety position.
Due to this, the Bills are now being predicted to make a major trade for a top trade candidate from the Arizona Cardinals. In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Alex Kay predicted that the Bills will acquire safety Budda Baker from the Cardinals in exchange for a 2027 third-round pick. With the Bills needing another impactful safety, it would make a lot of sense if they targeted a proven veteran like Baker.
The 30-year-old is an eight-time Pro Bowler and is still a very good player at this point in his career. Thus, he is exactly the kind of safety that the Bills should be looking to add between now and the trade deadline. Baker has appeared in seven games this season with the Cardinals, where he has recorded 3.5 sacks and 44 tackles.
This is after he had 120 tackles in 16 games during this past season with Arizona. With numbers like these, Baker would be a fascinating player for a top contender like the Bills to bring in. However, with Baker having such a strong resume and still being a difference-maker, the Bills likely won't be the only team interested in him leading up to the deadline.
Thus, the Bills would have competition in the Baker sweepstakes if they pursued him.
