‘Bond 26’ Final Screen Tests Are Reportedly Happening, and There Are Only 2 Actors Still in the Running

For yeeeears now, fans have been wondering which Hollywood hottie would become the next James Bond, with dozens of actors rumored to be in the mix. Rumored Bonds have, at one point or another, included (*takes deep breath*) James Norton, Jack Barton, Jacob Elordi, Aaron-Taylor Johnson, Henry Cavill, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Paul Mescal, Harrison Dickinson, Regé-Jean Page, Jonathan Bailey, Aaron Pierre, Damson Idris, Dev Patel, and Jack O’Connell…but there are now (reportedly!) just two actors still in the running. According to The Hollywood Reporter, “several sources” have confirmed that final screen tests for Amazon MGM’s Bond 26 (to be directed by Denis Villeneuve) are taking place in London this weekend…and (again, reportedly) the role will either go to Callum Turner or Jack Lowden, aka Mr.

So…what have these actors said about the rumors? When asked about the possibility of becoming the next Bond by THR in June 2026, Callum said, “I know as much as you do—really, I know as much as you do.” He went on to add, “I’ll tell you what’s so funny about the Bond thing: Even your best friends ask you, people text you that you haven’t spoken to for 10 years—and you know nothing! It’s such a weird thing of something happening and nothing happening at all.

I genuinely know nothing. I just find it quite amusing.” Jack, meanwhile, hasn’t addressed the rumors directly, though his wife Saoirse has. In October 2026, she told the that Jack potentially becoming the next 007 is “not really a subject that’s coming up in our house to be honest; the dog needs to be walked, the dinner needs to be made.” She also told Empire back in August that she’d like to be considered for a role in Bond 26 herself.
