The Vancouver Canucks' losing streak hit nine games with their 5-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night. It was another ugly loss for the Canucks, too. They were held without a shot during the entire second period and finished the game with only 13 in total.
Thus, they were completely outplayed by the Red Wings. Following the game, Canucks star Brock Boeser went off on his team while speaking to reporters. "It's the same stuff game after game," Boeser said.
"I don't know where the disconnect is. I don't know if guys aren't listening to what the coaches are preaching on our style of play or if some of our structure is not working, or what it is. It's embarrassing." It is hard to disagree with Boeser's take here.
The Canucks have been struggling immensely this season and are showing no signs of improvement. Their loss against the Red Wings was another low point, and they will now be looking to get things back on track. If they do not play better soon, they could end up being the NHL's worst team again this season.
The Canucks are set to face off against former captain Quinn Hughes and the Minnesota Wild on Sunday night for their next game. It will be interesting to see if Boeser and the Canucks can bounce back and beat a very good Minnesota club from here.
