The San Francisco 49ers selected rookie wide receiver De-Zhaun Stribling with an early second-round pick in this year's draft. Through training camp and preseason action, Stribling separated himself as one of the 49ers' most talented and consistent WR options. As such, he's expected to begin the season as a starting player alongside veteran pass catchers Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel. 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has some serious confidence in Stribling as he approaches his NFL regular-season debut against the Los Angeles Rams.
He's a guy that doesn't come in and just talk, talk, talk, but he's gonna show you when he gets out to practice by the way that he works, the way that he's supposed to be where he's supposed to be every time," Purdy said of Stribling during a recent interview with 49ers Talk. "If he does mess up, you could tell he's gonna get it corrected the next time," Purdy added. Guys get there eventually, but he's done it from the jump, which is really rare and really cool to see, and he's gonna be a big part of our offense this year, so I'm excited to see him play.” Purdy, Stribling and the 49ers will begin their 2026 season with an international matchup against the Rams in Melbourne, Australia on Sept. 10, U.S. time (Sept. 11, Australia).
