Warrington Wolves head coach Sam Burgess knows it is going to be a tough battle against Hull KR but it will be a contest with a difference taking place on Tuesday night. The fixture, which is live on Tuesday August 18 on Sky Sports Action from 7.30pm, is a rearranged round two match due to the Robins being in Las Vegas at the time. It means a jam-packed schedule for both clubs, going from Thursday night round 23 games, into this game, before playing again on Saturday and Sunday for their round 24 clashes.
With that in mind, Burgess has had to keep training and recovery simple to ensure his side can put in their best performance possible in a hectic run. "The Monday, Tuesday through to Sunday is out the window really with these five day turnarounds," Burgess said.
"We have got a few in a row. We have got a programme that we are following and it is not what day of the week it is, it's just how many days is it before the game day. "For either team, it's not the end of the world.
It is an important game though, that's the truth, it is an important game. "That's a strong comment, it can't be lost, we don't want to lose it. We've got two good teams going at it, so it will be a great contest." A conundrum that Hull KR head coach Willie Peters faced ahead of Tuesday night is whether to bring Mikey Lewis straight back into his side.
Lewis has just completed a four-match suspension for a headbutt against Warrington but could be set to return to face them once again. However, Hull KR have won all four games without him in the side. Hull KR head coach Peters said that, while it was a tough call to bring Lewis back in, he is a better player now for having had the "breathing space" of the last four weeks to learn and grow.
"It is one of those decisions we had to make-do we keep going with what we've had which we've had success with over the last four games, or do you bring Mikey back which is what we'll do," Peters said. "Mikey's got a lot of learning out of the last four weeks. He knows he needs to stay calm and composed because when he does that, he's an elite player.
