Caitlin Clark helped ESPN reach historic viewership numbers for this past weekend's College GameDay episode in Iowa.

The ESPN College GameDay crew traveled to Iowa City for this past Saturday's Big Ten matchup between the Iowa Hawkeyes and Ohio State Buckeyes. The popular college football program chose a superstar Iowa native and legendary University of Iowa graduate — Caitlin Clark — to be their celebrity guest of the week. Just as she has over the course of her collegiate and WNBA careers, Clark brought in historic viewership numbers on Saturday.

This past weekend's edition of the show was the most-watched episode of the season so far, drawing an average of 2.9 million viewers. In the final hour with Clark on screen, the show peaked at 3.7 million viewers. This edition was also the third most-viewed episode in the history of ESPN's "College GameDay," according to an announcement from the network.

Clark, who set the NCAA's all-time women's and men's scoring record during her four-year career with the Hawkeyes, just finished her third season as an All-Star point guard for the WNBA's Indiana Fever. She and her team suffered a first-round playoff exit at the hands of the Las Vegas Aces just days before her appearance on College GameDay. Ohio State took down Iowa with a 31-14 final score on Saturday.
