The running back saw zero touches last week, and then posted his season-high in rushing yards this week.

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo wanted to prove his worth on the team this week, that much was clear. In Week 6 against the New Orleans Saints, Skattebo had zero touches. Coach John Harbaugh said the running back would have a bigger workload in Week 7 versus the Houston Texans, and Skattebo took it upon himself to go above and beyond.

Skattebo led the Giants with 124 rushing yards on 17 carries, and he scored a touchdown in the team's 27-21 overtime win against the Texans. It's the first time this season Skattebo's recorded over 100 rushing yards in a game. In overtime, Skattebo broke off a 42-yard run, which is the longest of his career thus far.

This gain helped the Giants eventually score the Devin Singletary's game-winning touchdown. So, not only was Skattebo putting up good numbers, but he put his team in winning position. This is exactly what the Giants were hoping to see from their star running back.

When Skattebo scored his 16-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, Harbaugh gave him a hug on the sidelines. Hopefully any tension between the running back and coach has been resolved after Skattebo's incredible performance on Sunday. Running back Tyrone Tracy and quarterback Jameis Winston, also scored rushing touchdowns.

The four rushing touchdowns in a single game marks the first time the Giants have accomplished this feat since Dec. 3, 1950, the ' Josh Dubow reported. The Giants' running back room looked refreshed and renewed on Sunday. The team's 188 rushing yards is the most put up in a single game this season by New York.

Sunday's performance should have given Harbaugh and the coaching staff the confidence to trust their running back room moving forward.
