The Arizona Cardinals made a major move earlier this week, as they traded star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr to the Houston Texans. Yet, the struggling Cardinals might not be done yet, as one of their top stars is starting to create more chatter in the rumor mill as a trade candidate. In a recent episode of NFL Spotlight with Ari Meirov, PHNX Cardinals' Johnny Venerable made it clear that there is a real chance that Cardinals star safety Budda Baker could be traded between now and the NFL Trade Deadline.
"50-50, I think 50-50," Venerable said about the chances of Baker being traded by the deadline. "You're not giving him away for like a sixth, but if it's a fourth-round pick, and Budda's okay with it. All he's done is produce for the Cardinals, and all they've done in reciprocating that is losing...
Could he go somewhere and be the final piece to a great defense? 100%." If the Cardinals were to trade Baker, it would be a massive move. The eight-time Pro Bowler has been an incredibly important part of the Cardinals' roster for 10 seasons, so it would be sad for Arizona fans to see him go. Yet, with the Cardinals continuing to play poorly, it would also be understandable if they moved him to a contender.
NFL teams looking for help with their defense would likely love to add Baker by the deadline. He is a star safety, after all, so the Cardinals could have plenty of interest in him if they shop him. In five games this season for the Cardinals, Baker has posted 2.5 sacks to go along with 36 combined tackles.
