CBS has announced the special “Daughters of 9/11” to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks. The special will air on CBS from 9pm-11pm ET on Sept. 11 and stream on Paramount+. It follows Elizabeth Miller and Jessica Trant, two daughters of victims of the attacks, in their decades-long search for justice.

They joined forces with FBI special agent Frank Pellegrino, who interrogated 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed (KSM) at Guantánamo. Miller was six years old when her father Douglas Miller, a New York City firefighter, died in the World Trade Center. Trant was 19 when her father, Daniel Trant, a Cantor Fitzgerald bond salesman, died on the 104 floor of the North Tower.

The special will combine the two women’s story with details of Pellegrino’s interrogation of KSM. It will also feature KSM’s confession in his own words: “I was responsible for the 9/11 operation from A to Z … I did it,” he said. Susan Zirinsky and Terence Wrong executive produce for See It Now Studios.

It is directed and produced by Marc Levin with Daphne Pinkerson also producing. Brendan Ryan, who also lost his wife in the attack, created the score. Terry McDermott, co-author of “The Hunt for KSM,” serves as consulting producer.

Aysu Saliba and Cara Tortora served as supervising producers.
