The trio earlier this year also got together to mark the show’s 50th at a PaleyFest panel in Hollywood. Another “Angel” — this time, David Boreanaz, the star of the “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” spinoff “Angel,” was also announced — along with “Buffy” star Sarah Michelle Gellar, so perhaps they, too, will be paired on stage. (Boreanaz is also there to promote his new NBC drama remake of “The Rockford Files.”) Other presenters set to join in are “DTF St. Louis” stars Linda Cardellini and David Harbour, who won Emmys last weekend for outstanding limited/anthology actress and actor, respectively.
Their categories were originally slated to air during the NBC telecast, but were later moved to Night 2 of the show — causing some backlash. But now, their wins will be properly recognized at the ceremony. Additional names set to hit the stage on Monday: Odessa A’zion, Macaulay Culkin, Alan Cumming, Sally Field, Jon Hamm, Marcello Hernández, Peter Krause, Dan Levy, Julianna Margulies, Annie Murphy, Niecy Nash-Betts, Keke Palmer, Amanda Peet, Amy Poehler, Florence Pugh, Rachel Sennott and Zendaya.
Cumming won an Emmy over the weekend for outstanding host for a reality or reality competition program; he’s also up for the reality competition Emmy on Monday. (He’s so far won five Emmys overall.) Field is nominated for lead actres in a limited/anthology series or movie; her Netflix film “Remarkably Bright Creatures” won for outstanding movie over the weekend. If she wins, at age 79 she will become the oldest winner ever in the category. Zendaya, meanwhile, is up for drama lead actress for “Euphoria.” If she wins, she’ll become the youngest performer ever to win three lead drama Emmys.
More presenters will be announced at a later date, NBC and the TV Academy said. The 78th Emmys broadcast live from the Peacock Theater at LA Live on Monday, Sept. 14, at 8 p.m. Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay of Jesse Collins Entertainment and Mariska Hargitay will serve as executive producers of the telecast.
