Prior to the 2026 NFL Draft, the Chiefs surprised everyone by trading former All-Pro conerback Trent McDuffie to the Los Angeles Rams, a move that certainly put a lot of pressure on Mansoor Delane to be NFL ready early on in his professional career. Delane wasted little time in proving he may be ready for the responsibility being placed on him, intercepting Bo Nix's first pass attempt in Monday's game. He did not return for the Broncos second offensive drive after being tackled on his interception, being ruled out for the rest of the game with a shoulder injury. Fortunately, the Chiefs did get some positive news regarding Delane's injury on Monday. According to ESPN NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Delane's injury is not expected to be a long-term injury that forces him to miss significant time.
"He did spend the day getting tests done on that shoulder," said Rapoport during an appearance on ESPN's "NFL Live." "Of course, made the interception, landed on that shoulder, and actually suffered an injury earlier in the spring and summer on that scapula. X-ray, negative, that is a good sign. Not out of the woods yet.
But there is a lot of positivity that this is a short-term injury."
