In February, the Miami Dolphins released Tyreek Hill, freeing up the five-time All-Pro wide receiver to recover from a knee injury he suffered last season before joining a team in the regular season to chase a Super Bowl ring. The Kansas City Chiefs are an obvious destination for Hill. The Chiefs drafted Hill in the fifth round of the 2016 draft, and he was a big part of Kansas City winning Super Bowl LIV.
Per Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, Hill appears to be keeping tabs on the Chiefs. He's expected to be healthy enough to make his return around October. "Also on the Chiefs front, free agent receiver Tyreek Hill remains fond of the Chiefs, and a potential in-season signing would make a lot of sense," Fowler wrote.
"He should be closer to playing around October." He put up 959 yards and six touchdowns in 2024. Hill played in just four games last year, recording 21 receptions for 265 yards and one touchdown.
In July, Hill said he had "no power" in his left leg. By August, Hill's agent Drew Rosenhaus told "The Pat McAfee Show" that the receiver was running hills and was expected to make a return to the league this season. "This was a devastating injury, but everyone's gonna be so impressed when they see how well Tyreek has rehabbed," Rosenhaus said.
It's not hyperbole for me to predict that he will play this season. But I do think when he does sign, he will be a coveted player. "He'll be the kind of guy that will impact the playoff race and will certainly be successful once he signs." Based on the Chiefs' blowout win over the Denver Broncos on Monday night, Kansas City should be in the chase to make the playoffs when Hill is ready to return.
