The Philadelphia semiconductor index, known as SOX, slid Wednesday as chip stocks took a breather after a six-day climb. In recent trades on the stock market today, the SOX fell 1.2%. Over the previous six trading sessions through Tuesday's close, the SOX had risen 14%, driven by renewed support for makers of artificial intelligence and memory chips.
