The influencer known as Clavicular has publicly responded to reports he faces criminal charges in Massachusetts after court records revealed allegations including rape, drugging a person for sexual intercourse and procuring alcohol for someone under 21. The charges were first reported by The Bulwark, which cited Massachusetts court records showing that Braden Peters, known online as Clavicular, had been charged in Orleans District Court. The court filings and police records have drawn renewed attention because they add a criminal dimension to allegations that previously surfaced in a civil lawsuit filed by another social media personality.
In response to requests for comment about the reported charges, Clavicular's representative, Mitchell P. Jackson, told Newsweek, "I am Clavicular's rep. We have no further comment besides what we've already said in public." Jackson previously told NBC News that "Braden Peters has not been physically served" and disputed characterizations of the case.
The case is now headed toward an October 14 arraignment, while Clavicular’s representative maintains there is no additional public comment beyond prior statements and disputes aspects of media coverage. According to Massachusetts court records, Peters, 20, was charged on September 8. The complaint alleges offenses that authorities say occurred on May 23, 2025, in Chatham, Massachusetts, and the court docket shows a judge found probable cause on September 4 before the criminal complaint was issued.
Newsweek has contacted The Bulwark via email for comment. After reports about the criminal charges emerged, Peters responded to a link to the story on X, saying: "What is this s**t? Community Notes?” A Community Note underneath the post on Tuesday said, “A community note is not needed in the quoted tweet as Clavicular has indeed been charged.” One of Peters’ attorneys, Jeff Neiman, also told the New York Times that his client is innocent but declined to comment further on the pending criminal case.
Neiman did not immediately respond to inquiries by Newsweek on Tuesday. Attempts to reach Peters directly on Tuesday were unsuccessful. The police narrative attached to the court filings also states investigators attempted to contact him in August but did not receive a response and were unable to leave voicemails because the mailbox was full.
Court records allege three offenses against Peters: one count of rape, one count of drugging a person for sexual intercourse and one count relating to procuring alcohol for someone under 21. The rape charge carries a potential prison sentence of up to 20 years under Massachusetts law if a conviction were obtained. The records further show that probable cause was found on all three charges before the complaint was issued with a summons.
