Clayface Gives Skydance Its Second Box Office Weekend Win In A Row

Clayface held off You Can See Everything to top the box office this weekend

Initial estimates for Clayface's opening weekend box office are in, and the lower-budget horror film took the top spot with a $24.5 million gross. Its success means Skydance, the company created when Paramount and Warner Bros. merged, has topped the box office for two straight weeks. While Deadline's reported $24.5 million gross for Clayface comes in under Superman and Supergirl's opening weekends, it's not considered a flop.

That's because Clayface was made on a much smaller budget than most superhero cinematic universe flicks and is performing in line with expectations for a horror movie released around Halloween. It shows that not every superhero or supervillain movie needs to be a box office blockbuster if it's budgeted properly. Generally, audiences are liking Clayface as it has an A- Cinemascore and a 94% user average on Rotten Tomatoes.

Polygon was less impressed with the third DCU movie, with our reviewer writing that Clayface "tells an underwhelming story filled with uninteresting characters." Clayface also lets Skydance stack box office opening weekend wins as it builds on Street Fighter's opening weekend. Street Fighter didn't take second place on the box office charts this weekend, dropping off sharply to fourth. Meanwhile, A24's You Can See Everything grossed more in its second weekend than its first, making $19.5 million.

If that trend continues, Nathan Fielder's unexpected Elizabeth Holmes documentary could become another Obsession-like box office surprise in 2026. It'll be fascinating to see how both Clayface and You Can See Everything hold with audiences next weekend.
