A24 is set to hold free screenings of Firstman’s feature film directorial debut “Club Kid” for nightlife communities in 12 U.S. cities, including Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Philadelphia, Portland, San Francisco, Seattle and Washington D.C. The activation is in partnership with Resident Advisor, a global online platform about electronic music, DJs and club scenes. The screenings will take place the week of Oct. 24 at 7 p.m., leaving plenty of time for the kids to get to their clubs that night.
The cast also includes Diego Calva, Cara Delevingne, Paris Petitjen, Coleen Camp, Kirby-Howell Baptiste, Vicki Pepperdine, Nigil Whyte, Eldar Isgandarov, Saturn Risin9, Miss Benny and Alaska Riley. After earning a six-minute standing ovation at its Cannes Film Festival premiere in May, “Club Kid” was bought by A24 for $17 million after a heated bidding war with Mubi, Focus Features, Searchlight, A24 and Netflix. Warner Bros.’s new indie label Clockwork and Neon were also early suitors.
Watching people fall in love with Diego Calva. I saw a few posts [about me] saying, “Oh God, this is going to make him such a monster.” But I feel the opposite of that. I’m just so grateful.” “Club Kid” opens in limited release on Nov. 6.
