Indianapolis Colts second-year tight end Tyler Warren is expected to miss about a week after suffering a minor groin injury in training camp this week. So, the team is deciding to add to the room to make up for his absence. The team announced on Friday that it has signed veteran free agent tight end JJ Galbreath and waived cornerback Jai'Onte' McMillan in a corresponding move.
Galbreath, 25, began his professional career as an undrafted free agent out of the 2025 NFL Draft. He signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, earning a spot on their practice squad and a reserve/future contract in January, But he was waived two weeks ago. He now joins an Indianapolis tight end room that includes veterans Mo Alie-Cox, Drew Ogletree and Will Mallory.
Galbreath had impressive athletic testing scores during the pre-draft process, recording a 4.67-second 40-yard dash, 4.20-second shuttle, 6.82-second three-cone, 38-inch vertical and 10-foot-3 broad jump. However, while he has shown flashes of his athleticism at the NFL level, he has yet to turn that into production during the preseason. Galbreath appeared in 106 offensive snaps over three preseason games for the Steelers, but he was only targeted five times, making three catches for 23 yards.
Galbreath played college football at South Dakota, where he had 92 catches for 1,324 yards and 12 touchdowns from 2021-24.
