The NFL fined San Francisco 49ers Pro Bowl fullback Kyle Juszczyk $14,926 recently for appearing to mimic chugging a beer after making a catch during the team's Week 2 game against the Miami Dolphins. Juszczyk (whose nickname is "Juice") had his punishment rescinded, however, after winning his appeal and arguing that he was pretending to chug juice. Dallas Cowboys two-time Pro Bowl tight end Jake Ferguson also had his $13,611 fine levied following his own fake-chugging celebration in Week 2.
Now, Indianapolis Colts guard Matt Goncalves is looking to join Ferguson and Juszczyk in having his docked pay rescinded. Goncalves said Wednesday that his appeal for his recent chugging celebration hasn't been successful yet and claimed that he was pretending to drink Coca-Cola. The NFL fined the 25-year-old $8,847 after mimicking taking a drink from Colts tight end Tyler Warren and tipping it back after the latter's touchdown in Week 2.
The NFL and NFLPA later released a statement on Wednesday, which seems to hint that Goncalves' fine could be rescinded as well. Indianapolis selected the offensive lineman out of the University of Pittsburgh in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Goncalves appeared in each of the Colts' 17 games during his rookie campaign and made eight starts.
He played in and started 16 of Indianapolis' contests in the 2025 season and has started each of the team's first four games in 2026 as well. Goncalves has been on the field for all 256 of the Colts' offensive snaps this fall while committing no penalties.
