The Indianapolis Colts largely dominated throughout most of their Week 4 win over the Washington Commanders in London. But despite the positive result, Colts star cornerback Sauce Gardner made it clear that his individual effort level at portions of the game were "unacceptable" in his eyes. While the game was a 30-13 win for the Colts, the final score doesn't exactly tell the entire story about how this game went.
Notably, it was the Commanders that out-gained the Colts in total yards in the game 317 to 257. There were also some noticeable big plays both in the pass and run game allowed by Sauce Gardner, who the team notably gave a significant amount of resources to trade for last season. Several of these lowlights for Gardner have gone viral on social media following the game.
And Gardner himself seems to recognize plays during Sunday's game where he clearly wasn't giving 100 percent effort. "There was a couple of plays," said Gardner.
"The one where they scored, I seen the flag get thrown. But they could have picked the flag up, and then what? No matter what, I have got to make sure I am running to the ball.
Another one where I assumed a guy was getting tackled on the sideline, but he was still up. There was multiple plays where my effort was not there. That's not what I stand for.
That's not the type of person that I am. That's not the type of player I am. That will never happen again." More news: Ravens Leave Door Open for Possible Lamar Jackson Return in Week 5 It's obviously encouraging for Colts fans to hear Gardner acknowledge his effort-related issues in Week 4.
