Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn came into the team's Week 6 matchup against the 49ers with his back up against the wall as questions about his job security continue to emerge. Unfortunately, he didn't do himself any favors on Monday night after one significant mistake in the game caught the attention of many on social media. The first half of Monday's game certainly did not go to plan for Dan Quinn and the Commanders.
But this was at least partially due to an unforgivable mistake from Quinn, who appeared to lose track of what down it was on a clear scoring chance for his offense. With 13:08 remaining in the second quarter, the Commanders opted to attempt to convert a 4th and 2 from the 49ers' 13-yard line. The attempt itself was a bad enough look, as Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels threw the ball away when pressured by a 49ers defender, not even giving a Commanders receiver an attempt to complete a catch and keep the drive alive.

This is obviously despite the fact that the 49ers offense was heading out onto the field given that their defense had successfully gotten the ball back. It obviously can not be determined for sure what came out of Quinn's mouth, as there was no audio from down on the field.
But given how noticeably frustrated he was when it seems that he realized the Commanders no longer had the ball, many on social media were convinced that Quinn did indeed lose track of what down it was. Now, sitting at 1-4-1 on the season , it certainly seems like Quinn's seat is starting to get as hot as it has ever been heading into the team's Week 7 bye week.
So it will certainly be interesting to see whether Quinn is still the head coach in Washington when the team returns to action in Week 8 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
