Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer pushed back against a recent statement from team owner Jerry Jones.

The Dallas Cowboys defense, led by coordinator Christian Parker, is off to a brutal start in its 2026 NFL campaign. The Cowboys rank second to last in the league in terms of total yards allowed per game (395.4). This past Thursday, they allowed 419 yards and 24 points to a Tampa Bay offense led by undrafted rookie quarterback Jalon Daniels in a loss to the Buccaneers.

During his radio appearance with 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday, long-time Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Parker will move off the sideline and up into the coaching box for games moving forward. When asked about that decision on Wednesday, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer pushed back on the statement. All [defensive] decisions will go through him," Schottenheimer added.

The Cowboys are 2-3 to open up the 2026 season. This coming Sunday, they'll look to get back on track in a Week 6 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. This weekend's primetime "Sunday Night Football" matchup will kick off at 8:20 p.m.

ET from Green Bay's Lambeau Field.
