The Dallas Cowboys suffered a devastating loss in Rio de Janeiro, falling to the Baltimore Ravens on a last-second field goal. Dak Prescott and the Dallas offense got the ball down to the five-yard line with a chance to win the game late in the fourth quarter. But after failing to record a touchdown, the Cowboys settled for a game-tying field goal from Brandon Aubrey.
With just seven seconds remaining in the game, Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson completed a 27-yard pass to wide receiver Zay Flowers — immediately calling a timeout with one second left on the clock. Kicker Tyler Loop nailed a 56-yard field goal to give Baltimore its 34-31 victory. Many fans and analysts ripped the Cowboys' defense for this late-game collapse.
But according to Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin, more of the blame falls on the shoulders of the Dallas offense. "I'm way more disappointed in the offense," Irvin said on ESPN's "First Take." “I am more disappointed in GOTI: The Greatest Offense There Is, not being the greatest offense there is." Prescott agrees with Irvin, placing the blame on his offensive unit. "Frustrated," Prescott said.
We don't call ourselves the best offense, GOTI, and get down to the one-yard line and don't put it in. Not a lot of words or full explanation of it. "Defense shouldn't even have been in that position.
Those guys were over there saying 'it's on us,' absolutely not. We've got to put the game away, period."
