Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys are looking for anything to get their struggling defense moving in the right direction. During his radio appearance with 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday, Jones revealed that Cowboys defensive coordinator Christian Parker will be moving off the sideline and up into the coaching booth for gamedays moving forward. This decision comes five weeks into the 2026 NFL season, which has so far seen the Cowboys roll out one of the worst defensive units in the league.

Dallas ranks second to last in total yards allowed per game (395.4), leading only the Detroit Lions. They have the worst rushing defense in the NFL, averaging 168.4 yards allowed per game on the ground. This isn't the first defensive coaching change the Cowboys have made ahead of Sunday night's Week 6 matchup against the Green Bay Packers.

On Monday, the team brought in veteran NFL coach Mike Pettine as a senior defensive assistant to help Parker and his unit. "It's something we've been talking about for a long time," head coach Brian Schottenheimer said of the hire, via ESPN. "I think as we looked at everything, we had a chance to convince Pett that it made sense for him.

I think he's excited about coming in and adding experience and value. The most important thing for us was making sure we got the right guy, and I feel very, very confident that we did." Sunday's game against the Packers will kick off at 8:20 p.m.
