The Chicago Cubs have made a roster move, as they have designated veteran infielder Owen Miller for assignment.

The Chicago Cubs are moving on from one of their depth infielders. The Cubs have announced that they have designated infielder Owen Miller for assignment. This comes just a few days after he was called up to Chicago's major league roster from Triple-A Iowa.

Miller made one appearance during his call-up with the Cubs but did not get an at-bat. Now, after spending a few days on the Cubs' roster, he has been designated for assignment by the National League Central club. Down with Triple-A Iowa this season, Miller posted seven home runs, 57 RBI, and a .296 batting average in 96 games.

With numbers like these, he was playing well in Triple-A before being designated for assignment by the Cubs. Teams looking for more infield depth could consider claiming Miller off of waivers from the Cubs. He has some MLB experience and could be a decent low-risk addition for a team needing more infield depth.

In 304 MLB games over six seasons split between the Cleveland Guardians, Milwaukee Brewers, Colorado Rockies, and Cubs, Miller has posted 15 home runs, 100 RBI, and a .238 batting average. It will be interesting to see if he can find a new home after being designated for assignment from here.
