Cyberpunk Edgerunners 2 is now on Netflix. To celebrate, CD Projekt Red is releasing an anime-inspired update for Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is out on Netflix: It's a standalone sequel to the first Edgerunners anime from 2022, and both seasons connect to CD Projekt Red's RPG Cyberpunk 2077. To celebrate the release of the new anime, CDPR has announced Cyberpunk 2077 will receive a new update this week. CD Projekt Red is calling it the Edgerunners 2 Update or Update 2.5, and it will include "content inspired by the anime," according to a news release.

Also on the way are "a range of other new items and features." That is all CD Projekt Red has shared at this time. The publisher will host a livestream on Wednesday at 11 a.m. EDT to go into detail about what the update entails.

You can watch the stream on Twitch, YouTube, and Steam. Or ignore the stream and go into the new update blind. Edgerunners 2 Update will be released on Oct. 22 for PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X, while the update for the Nintendo Switch 2 version will "follow shortly." Like Cyberpunk 2077, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners takes place in the futuristic Night City, where gang violence and body modification run rampant.

Season 1 followed the rise and fall of David Martinez, undone by an excess of cybernetic implants. Season 2 follows a new cast trying to survive in the chaos of Night City. "With the intertwining stories of a veteran edgerunner, a young cinephile, a chrome-obsessed delinquent, and a Snake Nation netrunner, the series tells a raw and emotional tale of vengeance and redemption," the news release says.

Polygon's Ryan Epps saw the first episode over the summer at Anime Expo and enjoyed it. "Packed with incredible colors, gorgeous framing, and punchy sound design, Edgerunners 2 is a fresh take on a beloved world," he wrote.
