Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn is facing heat this week after poor game clock management led to a 27-27 tie with the New York Giants. The Commanders opted to run an offensive play from the Giants 24-yard line with 12 seconds remaining in the game with no timeouts. Quarterback Jayden Daniels was sacked, and Washington had no time to spike the ball or get the field goal unit out in time to win the game.
Commanders minority owner Earvin "Magic" Johnson was critical of how the game was managed in overtime. The Commanders are 1-3-1 before playing the San Francisco 49ers on "Monday Night Football" in Week 6. In Week 7, Washington has a bye, which would be an ideal time for the team to make a change at head coach if it wanted to go that route.

"It looks like he'll get time to do so," Fowler wrote of Quinn. "While Commanders owner Josh Harris couldn't have been pleased with the handling of the final seconds, he did not react by firing Quinn, and some people I've talked to believe Quinn will get some time to turn things around, though how much is uncertain.
"This is a blemish on Quinn's résumé that he will have to overcome. How Washington looks coming off the blunder could be a key data point, too." Quinn, who made it to Super Bowl LI with the Atlanta Falcons, had a hot start in his first season with the Commanders in 2024 when Washington made the NFC Championship Game with Daniels in his rookie season. Since the loss in the NFC championship, the Commanders are 6-15-1.
