DC Comics announced a new Justice League series at New York Comic-Con on Friday, and it's one fans have been eagerly awaiting. Absolute Justice starts in April, and it'll unite Absolute Universe heroes Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern (Jo Mullein), and Flash (Wally West) for a five-issue miniseries. While Martian Manhunter's Absolute series has come to an end, the hero won't be going away.
According to reporters in the room, Martian Manhunter will be responsible for bringing together the team in Absolute Justice. Some Absolute characters have already met, like Batman and Wonder Woman, but this will be the first time the whole gang is together in the Absolute Universe. Unlike most comic events, Absolute Justice will not interrupt any of the ongoing series.
A trailer for the miniseries is quite threatening, warning that Darkseid and the other "true rulers of this world" have one message for its heroes: "Abandon all hope." Ominous! The five-issue event will begin in April 2027, with Absolute Superman's Jason Aaron writing it and Juan Ferreyra (Green Arrow, Spine-Tingling Spider-Man) drawing. Absolute Justice wasn't the only notable announcement from the panel.
Cliff Chiang will be filling in for Absolute Batman artist Nick Dragotta on the Barbara Gordon-starring issue #26 in January. A new Absolute Black Canary one-shot was announced for sometime next year. The character was introduced in the pages of Absolute Green Arrow, which started as a six-issue miniseries before being expanded to 12.
The Absolute Universe line has been a boon for DC Comics, with Absolute Batman and Absolute Wonder Woman both receiving Best New Series nominations at the 2025 Eisner Awards, where Absolute Wonder Woman took home the hardware. The Absolute books have reimagined DC's heroes by stripping them to their cores, meaning Batman has no butler, mansion, or riches, for example. He'll make the hop to another medium as an Absolute Batman animated series was announced in June.
