The Indianapolis Colts made multiple blockbuster trade moves on Tuesday, including the decision to send three-time Pro-Bowl defensive lineman DeForest Buckner back to the San Francisco 49ers. In response to the trade, Buckner posted a social media message on Wednesday morning: "Forever grateful to the Indianapolis Colts Organization and Irsay family for blessing me with the opportunity to wear the Horseshoe. These past 6 and a half years have been full of blessings," Buckner wrote on Instagram.
"My family and I are proud to have called Indy our home! I’ve made some life lasting friendships inside the building and out in the community that I will always cherish. "I’m sorry we couldn’t get the job done, but just know that I poured my heart and soul into the organization and the community the best way I knew how to.
God Bless!" https://www.instagram.com/p/DfCavl4NL8h/?hl=en Buckner began his NFL career as the 49ers' No. 7 overall pick in the 2016 draft. He spent the first four seasons of his professional career in San Francisco, playing there until the team traded him to Indianapolis before the 2020 season. Through the first seven games of the Colts' 2026 season, Buckner recorded four sacks, eight QB hits, 31 tackles, three passes defended and a fumble recovery.
