It looks like Los Angeles Chargers fans will have to wait a little longer for Derwin James' return. On Wednesday, Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh announced that James, who has not played since Week 3 due to a hamstring injury, has suffered a setback in his recovery and could be placed on injured reserve. If the Chargers place James on IR, that means he would not be eligible to return until Week 12, when the Chargers face the Patriots.
The announcement comes as the Chargers are currently 0-6 and preparing to face cross-town rival Los Angeles Rams. James has been with the Chargers since being drafted by the team in the first round (No. 17 overall) in 2018. In his career, the 30-year-old safety has been selected to the Pro Bowl five times, the All-Pro First Team twice, and the All-Pro Second Team four times.

In three games this year, the Florida State alum notched 21 tackles and one pass defended.
