Dolly Parton's Hollywood Walk of Fame star has been damaged just a week after her death, with her name scratched off and flowers left by mourners reported stolen, according to TMZ. Videos circulating on social media showed crews working on the star Tuesday. Ana Martinez, a spokesperson for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, told TMZ that a fan reported Monday night that someone had stolen flowers from the star and scratched it.
Martinez said Parton's star already had cracks and had been scheduled for repairs Tuesday. Parton received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1984 in recognition of her recording career. The incident comes a week after Parton died at the age of 80 following a brief battle with cancer.
Her star became a makeshift memorial following her death, with fans gathering at the Hollywood landmark and leaving bouquets and other tributes in her honor. Parton died on August 25 at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville, surrounded by loved ones. The country music icon's death prompted an outpouring of tributes from fans, entertainers and public figures around the world.
