Drones have been deployed in the Thai city of Pattaya to boost security amid the influx of thousands of American military personnel on shore leave. Around 5,000 sailors started arriving in Pattaya, known as Thailand's "Sin City," on Wednesday following the docking of the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier group, which had been at sea for 286 days as part of combat operations in the Iran war. Thai officials said existing tourist police numbers were not sufficient for the thousands of Americans who arrived in the city, so drone patrols have been deployed over Pattaya Beach, Walking Street and Bali Hai Pier.
The aircraft will monitor the crowds and broadcast messages in English to deter incidents, support safety, and reassure both Thai and foreign visitors, the local newspaper Pattaya News reported. This is a developing story.
